The SUPER POWER of the Number 18: Chaldean Numerology
How to wield the fire that unlocks your highest potential
The number 18 is a POWERFUL energy. Just like any powerful energy, it needs to be wielded properly. If you were born on the 9th or 18th, have a similar life path, or care about someone who was, this information is especially for you.
Let’s dive in.
The Moon Card: Shadow Work and Integration
Number 18 corresponds to the “Moon” card in Tarot. Many consider this a mysterious card. The essence of the Moon card is integrating your lower nature into your mind, or psyche. 18 is the number of shadow work. Facing difficulties, obstacles, and overcoming. It has a lot of fire, and it needs to be wary of how it is directed. 18 has a lot of potential for anger. The key is holding the awareness that anger is not bad — it's just fire. 18 needs to channel it in positive and productive ways. Rather than staying angry, focus on a solution and take action on it. That’s 18.
Let us digress back into the integration aspect, relating to the Moon card. 18 represents a culmination point, and it’s hidden in the numbers.
Sequence Breakdown to Understand 18
18 is built on the number 8. To understand 18, we first have to understand a little about the numbers in sequence.
6 creates such harmony that it facilitates transcendence — the 7. Transcendence is when surface-level consciousness penetrates to its root. It literally under-stands — as in stands underneath — the duality and dynamism of its existence.
Now comes the number 8. 8’s role is to integrate the number 7 back into existence. 8 is the pinnacle of power, of both cause and effect. The culmination of 8 leads to the 9. Look at the 8 — it has two circles, one in the bottom chakras and one in the top. 9 is all head. It shows the final stages of enlightenment, of raising the kundalini sparked by the 7, up through the chakras with 8, then activated and integrated into conscious awareness by the 9.
With that, we can now see 18/9 from a different perspective.
8 is carrying forward the process of bringing power and integrated awareness to the identity (1), creating completion (9). It also can be seen as integrating kundalini awareness into the brain. This practically speaking is the opening of the 3rd Eye, or pineal gland.
The God of the 3rd Eye
9 corresponds to Mars. Mars is Muruga — also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, or Subramanya. He is considered the son of Shiva (God), and the God of the 3rd Eye. Muruga’s story is that of the number 9.
He was born from the 3rd Eye of Shiva. Many consider him the personification of Shiva with his 3rd Eye open. He carries a lance-psychic weapon called Vel — a staff with an arrowhead-like point at the top. This is the kundalini. With it, starting from the bottom, he penetrates each chakra, waging war and conquering the “Demons” or lower tendencies within each of the chakras. Finally, the Vel penetrates into the brain and culminates in the awakening of the 3rd Eye.
One of his symbols is the snake. Snake is the Kundalini with a small brain on top. It represents the spine with the “reptilian” brain, or midbrain — excluding the mammalian brain also called the neocortex. It’s remarkable because of all the numbers, 18 is one that can easily shut off its emotions, just like a reptile. In imbalance, this can result in focusing solely on the objective — not how it's done.
Why 18 and 9 Are Intertwined
9 — and especially 18 — is a warrior. 18 is inseparable from 9 because if you break the single digit 9 down, it has an 18 in its inner aura and also heart. 18 is how a 9 thinks and feels, hence they are deeply intertwined.
This story of Muruga is exactly that of the number 18 and the Moon card. It is shining light on the lower tendencies of the mind and bringing truth to the identity (17 inner aura within 18), achieving and acting on that greater purpose (91 outer aura), resulting in the full empowerment and integration (8) of the conscious identity (1) with the culmination of consciousness awareness (9).
The Shadow of 18/9
In shadow, 18/9 will get stuck in ego. It will be extremely critical, angry, and a perfectionist. Overworked, overburdened, and burned out, it will stop at nothing to achieve whatever principles it has aligned itself with. At the most extreme, it will hurt others without blinking an eye. Like a warrior, it can “hack down” or step over anyone in its path without thinking twice — so long as the objective or “win” is completed.
There is a tremendous drive in this number. It can outwork and outperform the competition. It is important for 18 to have an outlet. Physical exercise is great. Sports. Watch out for being overly competitive. Even more importantly, 18 needs to become a mental warrior. It needs to exercise its mind.
Mental Warrior: Mind as Weapon
Specifically, it needs to learn how to meditate. 18 will experience unresolved issues bubbling up into their mind. They can either channel them into over-aggression or resolve them through their inner fire. Like a warrior, adopting higher morals and a code of conduct is needed. Like the chivalry of the Knights, there are rules. There is a hierarchy. This is good for the 18 to help channel its fire in productive ways.
But first, it has to be said that 18 needs to be mindful of the people it has around them. If not, it could adopt principles and ideologies that it will fight for — which may be destructive in nature.
This can be glimpsed in the mythology of Hanuman, another representative of 9. When Hanuman was young, he had extraordinary powers, but he used them recklessly. He tried to swallow the sun, he teased and disturbed saints, and got himself into a lot of trouble. He ended up losing his powers for a period of time. He regained them only when he started serving Rama — a personification who represented his Soul, Higher Self, or God.
This is the clue for you, and leads us into finishing the conversation about the mental warrior.
The Vacuum of 7 in 18: Master the Mind
For the number 18, you can see a vacuum of 7. 1 - 8 = 7. And yet, 18 does have a 17/8 on the inside of it. The pattern becomes clear — 18’s need to meditate.
Channeling their fire to be hyper-vigilant of what kind of thoughts, intentions, and patterns they are experiencing inwardly is critical. Part of their path will be resolving internal conflicts — this is karma…especially for 18/9 life paths. This could be your karma, it could be ancestral karma, it could be collective karma.
You are here to master your mind. Mastering your mind looks like pruning it. You should keep it quiet, simple, and reflective. In doing so, your speech and actions will be as they should be: precise, powerful, and exactly what is needed — nothing more.
Karma Yoga: Act Without Attachment
18 needs to develop detachment. 8 is detachment, 7 is renunciation — both are inner numbers for the 18. 18 is like a karma yogi, the yoga of action. The trap is attachment to results. Trying to control the outcomes. The game of the 18 in this regard is to maintain their intention to serve their higher self, and then act without attachment to what happens.
In this way, their higher nature will flow through them and do exactly what needs to be done in the highest and greatest way.
The Technique: Activate the 3rd Eye
18’s need to meditate and take action to awaken their 3rd Eye — their midbrain awareness. They are to be rooted in this perspective and allow it to inform their thoughts and actions. This will be experienced as instincts.
The reptilian part of the brain is instinctual. The 18, in other words, is not supposed to think so much as they are supposed to operate instinctually. The more clear they are inwardly, the more clearly they will receive the precise impulse to think, feel, and act in a way aligned with truth.
To do this, I strongly recommend Dr. Pillai’s Midbrain Miracle Method and his Midbrain Tapping technique. They will do the job — provided you commit to them.
